Maria is the pastry chef of Central Restaurant in Montgomery, Alabama, where she covers all the dessert menu planning and baking breads for the restaurant and banquet events. She works very closely with her husband Chef Jason McGarry creating dishes together through their ideas and knowledge. She came from a very humbled and big family who loves to cook. As she recalls growing up, her mother would cook one big meal for the entire neighborhood and she’s always been right beside her mother watching and helping her to cook. Chef Marie holds a B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management in her home town Manila, Philippines. She came to the U.S. in 2003 for her apprenticeship in Hilton Head Island, SC, where she worked in the front of house and then finished in the pastry department, where she there found her passion for baking. As her husband pursued his culinary degree, they both decided to join The Greenbrier Apprentice Program in 2006. Chef Marie found the opportunity to join the pastry department where she learned the basics of baking from their great French Chef, and after a few years she became the Pastry Sous Chef.
